I am working to refinish an old sideboard unit. It may have had a natural finish when new (~1900-1920?) but was painted black somewhere along the line. I have stripped most of this off and the wood is oak with a nice color. It has decorative inset scrollwork (recessed areas) on the doors and sides and I would like to paint them black to accent them while leaving the higher background areas natural. What kind of paint (enamel?) and overall finish (polyurethane?) would you recommenf for this project?
I am planning on refinishing my oak table. I want to stain it brown but then distress around the edges in black. How do I get a professional look?
Thanks for you help!!
